If you suddenly receive a message on your device warning you to contact Microsoft or another support number you may have visited an infected website. When you receive this warning your computer is not compromised, you may be prompted to call a phone number to receive support. You should never let someone you don’t personally know or trust take control of your devices. If you call the phone number you will be reaching out to a scammer. You do not need to call the phone number to close the warning message even though it may be difficult to close the page.
